The Secret To An Abundant Life

The opposite of scarcity is NOT abundance; 

The opposite of scarcity is enough.

I first read those words in Brene Brown’s book “Rising Strong”, and they rang true like a Tibetan gong deep in my being.

Yes… this was it! 

This is the secret I have been exploring and expanding and teaching. 

Enough!

But what about …

TOO MUCH!

This got me thinking about my gluttony for life.

 I love the spirit of birthdays and Christmas and Thanksgiving and other “feast days.”

The sheer delight of being alive.

The exuberance of life.

The celebration of lifeforce pulsing through everything.

Love / Life - one and the same.

The awe and thanksgiving for this precious gift called life that we each get to live and experience.

I love the… 

… “TOO MUCHNESS” of it all too.

At Christmas I always bake TOO MUCH cake because I don’t know how to do things in moderation. 

(I use Nigella Lawson’s Black Cake recipe and soak the fruit in way TOO MUCH booze for WAY TOO LONG – over three months!)

I go overboard with gifts. For one of his birthdays, I made Nic a TOO MUCH twelve-gift treasure hunt for his birthday – that game went on all day! – because I love large gestures and loving TOO MUCH. 

(He gave me a six-day treasure hunt for one of mine)

I use TOO MUCH gift wrapping.

Our three metre tall Christmas tree is WAY TOO MUCH – loaded with WAY TOO MANY baubles and it’s fabulous.

Dressing the dining table for a party, dressing the gammon for Christmas, dressing myself for a night out, dressing up for fancy dress parties… TOO MUCH!

Hiding TOO MANY chocolates for Easter, TOO MANY candles for Diwali, TOO many bubbles in my bath.

… all WAY TOO MUCH! 

I love all these things because they allow me to confront and be wide awake in TOO MUCH. 

As I consciously play with TOO MUCH I get to feel and connect with my own ENOUGH and pacify my ever lurking NOT-ENUFF monsters.

This is the dance we are all called to dance in finding our own ENOUGH line and there are two power skills we can use to help us find that line and live our glorious ENOUGH life.
